We grow food to build rich soil, healthy people, and a vibrant community.
Free Hand Farm is located just 45 minutes from Sacramento, in the beautiful rolling hills of El Dorado County, CA.
Raw, full-fat, grassfed milk
A staple in Indian, African, European and Mongolian traditional diets, raw whole milk raised on pasture provides highly digestible probiotics, digestive enzymes, omega 3's, vitamins A, E and K, and CLA. It tastes amazing, and can be made into yogurt, kefir, cheese and butter at home!
100% Grassfed Lamb and Beef, Pastured Pork & Eggs
Our lambs and beef steers are born and raised on California pastures. We treat them with respect, and plan our grazing to build a diverse and healthy ecosystem. At the end of their lives they provide us with amazing meat that is high in CLA, Omega 3's, highly absorbable iron, protein and vitamins A, E and K.
Pigs and hens are on pasture and live out satisfying animal lives. Fed no soy or corn, and given plenty of grass, scraps, whey and non-gmo feed, they produce some of the best tasting pork and eggs around.
Who we are
Spencer & Melissa Tregilgas (and the 3 Feral Farm Kids)
We raise healthy food because we believe it is a great way to serve each other, build community, heal the land and build fertile soil. And as christians, we believe it is a great way to teach-through-doing how God wants people to treat the rest of His creation.
- We use livestock guardian dogs to protect our sheep and solar technology to protect our hens so that we can live with and around predators like pumas, coyotes, bobcats and bears without harming them.
- We do not use synthetic chemicals or fertilizers on the farm.
- We practice management that mimics natural patterns to build soil, increase wildlife habitat, and raise healthy, hardy livestock.
- We use fencing and watering technology developed in New Zealand to decrease our water use and keep our whole farm system portable.
We've had some awesome mentors and helpers along the way, and we continue to pursue excellence in farming through ongoing study. Stop by the farm sometime and say hi! Email us to find out more: firstname.lastname@example.org
